Wednesday Evening Activity for Teens

I am one of two chaperones for a group of 5 teenagers, ages 15-17, one boy and four girls. We will be in downtown KC for a conference the week of June 22-26, 2009. Last year we attended a Royals game on Wednesday evening and we all enjoyed it. I just checked the Royals’ website and unfortunately, it looks like they’re on the road the week that we’re in town this summer. Any ideas for a fun activity in place of Wednesday’s ball game? FYI-we will be going to Worlds of Fun on Thursday evening as part of the conference schedule.

Thanks for your help!

Going down to the plaza area may be an option for you. I don%26#39;t know if you want to spend a lot of time shopping, but there is always fun things to do there including just people watching and of course the Cheesecake Factory is down there for dinner. i looked and Starlight Theater doesn%26#39;t have any shows that evening. Union Station may have something going on also. Don%26#39;t know your budget or if you are looking for something more structured. Hope this helps!

The T-Bones are playing baseball that night. They might be a fun, much less expensive alternative to the Royals. Their stadium is at the Legends in Kansas City, Kansas. http://www.tbonesbaseball.com

The Legends has a lot happening for an outdoor shopping mall. T-Rex Cafe, games at Dave and Busters, Pin-up Bowl, Build-a-Dino, the Legend%26#39;s 14 theater with its 87%26#39; wide screen %26amp; luxury seating...

Thanks, folks! Those sound like great suggestions. I appreciate your advice!

There was a lot on the news yesterday about the Chonicles of Narnia exhibit which will be at Union Station. http://narnia.unionstation.org/index2.php

BeWarning: Union Station is totally inflexable about rescheduling or any other changes to tickets.

Thanks, Lighthouselover. I really appreciate the info as well as the warning about Union Station’s inflexibility. Since our Wednesday afternoon schedule depends a great deal on how the kids do in their events on Tuesday, we’ll definitely wait until we’re in KC before buying tickets. We might not finish up in time to really enjoy the exhibit (I think I read that it closes at 5:30 PM).

I think Legends might have something for everyone in our group. Is there a restaurant in Legends that serves KC style barbecue or really good steaks?

Food wise, my first choice in the Legends is not in the mall, but a few blocks closer to Great Wolf Lodge - Granny%26#39;s Chicken Ranch. I%26#39;ve only had the (very good) chicken, but a friend that was with me liked the ribeye.

The only steakhouses there are chains - not what I would usually recomend, but they may appeal more to the teens: Ted%26#39;s Montana Grill, Outback, %26amp; LongHorn Steakhouse. The one most likely to please the young people while still have a fairly good steak would probably be the Dave %26amp; Busters. They have packages the combine game tokens with the meals for a pretty good buy.

There is an Arthur Bryant%26#39;s at the Legends, but the BBQ at that location doesn%26#39;t measure up to the original location.
