hotel to commute to Ft Leavenworth

My family is moving to Ft Leavenworth (husband in Army) and we%26#39;re looking for a hotel to stay in until our household goods arrive. Can anyone recommend a place to stay that would be an easy commute and would also be good for young children (ages 7, 5, 2 and 4 months)? Is there anything with a small kitchenette? We%26#39;re hoping to spend no more than $110/night.

Mom, sorry for the late response ... you%26#39;re probably moved and settled in by now. I wasn%26#39;t going to be much help, anyway, but wanted to see if anyone could answer the underlying question you raised ... Is there some place to stay in or near Leavenworth?

We%26#39;ve been to the Fort area several times, for swim meets and such, and never had much luck finding good family hotels. We have either stayed down at Village West in KCK or chucked it and made the long drive home. It%26#39;s not too far over to the KCI airport area, but that%26#39;s not the best area to find kid-related activities. The Holiday Inn Express in Lansing doesn%26#39;t look bad at all, but we could never get a room there by the time we knew we were going to be up there. Plus, by the time you drive all the way through Leavenworth and Lansing to get to the HI Express, you%26#39;re most of the way to Village West, which has a lot more prospects for food and fun.

Anybody got a good spot in Leavenworth that we%26#39;re missing?
