Weather conditons as related to Florida

Like a home about 4 miles out of Ft. Scott and the Sperlings report says you have high humidity and temperatures and are only 3 points higher than Florida we are rated a 27 , you a 30. The higher the better for comfort level.

Is it really as hot there as it is here in Florida? I mean we hit 98 and 99% humidity for 5 solid months and we are still in the 90%26#39;s now in Oct. Won%26#39;t have any relief until Dec or so. Any help from local folks would be appreciated we really like the home and area.

Thanks for any help you can provide. We are sick of Florida!!

We were still reaching the low 80s until Monday, but that was unusual. We are now having day time highs around 70, which is normal for this time of year.

This area (I live about 60 miles north of Fort Scott) typically reaches the upper 80s to 90s much of July and August. Some years we never reach 100, some years it is 100 for a couple of weeks in a row.

We get some snow, with the Fort Scott area getting more than up here. There were heavy snows 3 or 4 times this past winter. People are more likely to golf than ski on Christmas Day. January - March, there is more time with bare ground than with snow on the ground.

But in general, the sumer highs have been getting lower, the winter lows have been getting higher, and snow fall has been getting lighter over the past 20 years.

July and August are usually hot and humid with dew points in the upper 60%26#39;s and lower 70%26#39;s and temperature%26#39;s average in the low to mid 90%26#39;s. Here in Wichita we average 11 days of 100 or higher but did not have that many this year.

Housing has to seem very inexpensive here compared to Florida.

It is not hot here for as many months out of the year as Florida, but it does exceed 100 degrees several days in the summer. What you will not be used to coming from Florida is how cold it gets in the winter. We have both extremes here - 100+ in the summer and subzero in the winter. But if you don%26#39;t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes, it will change. We%26#39;ve had snow in early June and 90%26#39;s in November. You never know what is coming.
