Kansas Beef

My personal favorite is CC%26#39;s City Broiler in Overland Park.:

They serve the best steak which I have found in the metro are, the service and atmosphere are good and the price is far below comparable area steak houses.

All entrees come with home baked sourdough bread, choice of soup or salad, and choice of starch of vegetable. Yet most dinners are priced from $20-25. Only a handful of meals are over $30.

They have only been open at this location for about 2 years in they have another restaurant in central Missouri.

For a more ';interesting'; ';local'; place, you might also consider going a half hour west of town to Bichelmeyer%26#39;s Steakhouse Restaurant in Tonganoxie, Kansas.

The family owned restaurant traces its history back to the B %26amp; B Sandwich Shop in Kansas City, Kansas and the Bichelmeyer Meat Market which opened in 1946 and is still operating in Kansasa City, Kansas. Good steak and an interesting 100 year old building.

CC%26#39;s is good but there are a lot of great places to get a good steak. J Alexanders is very good and so is J Gilberts. Both of these places will costs about 90$ with drinks for 2. My favorite cheap place for a great steak is Texas Roadhouse-you can get a great steak for under 20 dollars. most around 15. There is also Mortons.

J Gilberts is good and so is J Alexanders. Both are consistant with great service.

Some people really like to eat in a place that feels like that particular city. If you are one of those people, go ';old school';, and do the Majestic Steakhouse downtown....and I mean ';old school';.

LOTS to choose from when it comes to great steaks! My faves:

Jess %26amp; Jim%26#39;s

Plaza III

Hereford House

Golden Ox

Here%26#39;s a couple of links with info %26amp; addresses:

I%26#39;d try Hereford House. I also liek J. Alexanders, but think Hereford house is more of a steak house than a general restaraunt serving good steak.

You should also hit a good BBQ joint!

Reviving this post to say I%26#39;d head to Plaza II - The Steakhouse. I%26#39;ve not found any place that consistently has the very best prime steaks and top-notch service. Plaza III would also qualify for going ';old school';, if you go to the KCMO Plaza location, though not as ';old'; as Majestic. P-III is THE real Kansas City steak house, IMHO.

All the other places mentioned in this thread are good, but none are consistently good. Yahooz, down in Leawood, has served me one of the best KC Strip steaks I ever had, and one of the worst, while having great service one time and NO service the next. That happens at some of the other places, too, but it doesn%26#39;t happen at Plaza III, ever.

KC Steak = Plaza III.

Oops! See that my first ';Plaza III'; came out as ';Plaza II'; ... I don%26#39;t think there is a #2, just 3. Sorry for the typo.
