I%26#39;m in the final stages of organising a vacation for September. We have 3 nights in the Kansas City area and had originally planned to stay in Lawrence however I%26#39;ve now seen the Chase Suites at Overland Park. The reviews look good and the Woodfin website seems to tie in with that however I%26#39;ve never heard of Chase Suites before - does anyone have any views- are they a reputable company to deal with? They do look nice and I think the Overland Park area would have nice dining and shopping options as well as being good for getting out and about from so I%26#39;d appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks

I can%26#39;t help with the Chase Suites but I can offer an opinion about Overland Park and Lawrence. Lawrence is small town America, compact, more relaxed and good restaurants for its size. Don%26#39;t really know much about the shopping in either area. Overland Park is American urban sprawl personified. Miles and miles of strip malls, regular malls, homes, fast food, etc.
If you are interested in shopping you should take a look at the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City,Missouri.Probably one of the premiere shopping areas in the USA.

hmmm, may be back to plan A and Lawrence then. I love to shop but I%26#39;m more of a traditional small town girl at heart (we can drive to any of the malls pretty much anytime I guess). We had originally looked at the Holiday Inn Express in Lawrence but the pool is indoors and I%26#39;m living in hope of the weather being good in September and getting to spend a little time at the pool as it%26#39;s currently shaping up to be a traditional Scottish summer here - rain, rain and more rain, at least it%26#39;s consistent! I%26#39;ll think about it overnight, I%26#39;d probably rather be in the more historic/traditional location I think. Thanks for the insight Patrick.
well looks like my decision may have been made for me - there is no availibility at any Holiday Inn hotels 15/18 Sept. I%26#39;m guessing there must ne something on in the area around the time. I have found a Hilton Garden Inn at a decent rate however it%26#39;s on Minnesota Avenue Kansas City and the reviews suggest it%26#39;s not a safe area. I%26#39;ll wait until tomorrow, in case there are some sort of gremlins in the Holiday Inn online reservation systems, and try again and then it looks like Overland Park it may have to be. That%26#39;s my reward for dithering I guess!
The Country Club Plaza is a great place for window shopping, but for any shopping that I tend to do, Oak Park Mall and Town Center in the Overland Park area are far better.
lawrence hotels might be booked for KU football game
