Despite being smaller and having less congested, Lawrence has much more to offer to a visitor.
Likely places for your group to stay include Baymont Inn, Best Western, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Holiday Inn Holidome.
You might take a look at Marriott%26#39;s Spring Hill Suites in Lawrence, They do have an indoor pool but I think the breakfast is basically continental style. It is in the downtown area and is within easy walking distance of several restaurants. Topeka is a 50 mile round trip from Lawrence and would add considerable to your gas costs.
I agree with the advice to stay in Lawrence. For Topeka, you would want to go clear to the west side of town, which would make for a long trip. If you can%26#39;t get into anything at Lawrence, you might consider the Village West area near the Speedway in Kansas City, KS.
