Looking for weekend get-away location.

My husband and I are looking for a weekend get-away in March/first part of April (Fri-Sun). We are from eastern South Dakota so we are looking for something within driving distance. We are looking for some R%26amp;R plus a little siteseeing and something fairly reasonable in price.

We are open to anything - from a cabin on the lake to staying in a hotel in the city.

If you have any suggestions please post them. Thanks.

There are so many options, that I don%26#39;t really know where to start. But I will throw one out, and your reaction may help us get closer to what would please you.

How about Lawrence, a medium sized college town, midway between Kansas City and Topeka?

It is a nice community that still has a real downtown like towns did 40 years ago. Massachusetts Avenue has clothing, book and appliance stores and many interesting local restaurant and entertainment options. The has interesting buildings dating back 150 years, museums at the University of Kansas, and other things such as nearby wineries to make up an interesting weekend.

In addition to the usual chain hotels, you might look at staying at Halcyon House B%26amp;B or the Eldridge Hotel.

I would recommend Lawrence also. It%26#39;s a cool little town. In addition to pp recs, I%26#39;d recommend checking out The Circle S Ranch. It%26#39;s a B%26amp;B north of Lawrence. It%26#39;s a really cool place to get some R%26amp;R. They have a hot tub in the silo and some spa services. You%26#39;d have to make sure there isn%26#39;t a wedding being held there that weekend. www.circlesranch.com
