Linwood Trip

Planning to attend an anniversary party in Linwood around July. Coming from Houston, Tx. Where would you all recommend we stay? Looking for 4+ star or above but not too far, also one which will maybe accomodate a little dog. Willing to drive to close by cities as we are driving in. Something with food and shopping nearby as well. Thanks!!!!

Anyplace close by (Lawrence or western suburbs of KC) will be 3 stars at best. 4 stars will require driving into Kansas City, Missouri.

Places to consider would include the Hotel Phillips, Raphael Hotel, Westin Crown Center, and Hyatt Regency Crown Center.

The Westin permits small pets. I haven%26#39;t encountered the pet policy at the other 3.

The Crown Center Hotels are attached to a small enclosed mall (Crown Center) that is also attached to Union Station and Hallmark%26#39;s World Headquarters.

The Raphael Hotel is on the edge of the Country Club Plaza - a nationally known shopping and entertainment district the was built in the early 1920s and modeled on the architecture of Seville, Spain.

The Hotel Phillips is downtown with very little shopping nearby.

My advice would be to stay in the Legends area of Western Wyandotte County. This will allow you to be close to Linwood (where you%26#39;re coming to visit..it%26#39;s just a short trip down the road) and close to lots of entertainment/shopping in the Legends. Legends is a beautiful shopping/entertainment district located near the Kansas Speedway. Check them out online at www.legendsshopping.com

Although clearly NOT 4 stars...I think the Hampton Inn in Village West and/or the Holiday Inn Express in Village West are excellent choices.

Within the Legends, I recommend Yardhouse for dinner (www.yardhouse.com) or Granite City Brewery. Of course, we like STIX for a change of pace too.
