I will be in Wichita the week of 09/12/08, and I am very interested in touring the Allen-Lambe house (desinged by Frank Lloyd Wright).
However, I have tried contacting them for the last 2 weeks, via phone (NUMEROUS times each day, but no answer and no answering machine), via fax (no response yet) and also via the cell number of a Board Member that I happened to find using a Google search, lol. I even called the local art museum and the guy that I spoke to said that he used to be a docent at the FLLW house, but no longer has a contact there. As far as knew, the house was still open and conducting tours.
According to their website, all tours must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance, so my deadline is fast approaching.
Can someone give me any advice about this matter? I am hoping a local TA Expert can shed some light for me, or maybe give an alternate contact for the house.
Thanks!
Help with Frank Lloyd Wright House
I am not sure that they do tours on a regular basis but will check and see what I can find out.
Help with Frank Lloyd Wright House
Okay, I have an update: I contacted someone on the Wichita Arts Council, who then contacted someone at the Allen-Lambe house, and they in turn just called me and I was able to make my reservation for the 12th.
It seems that their is an issue with the phone system at the house (?), but as I stated in my original post, I had also emailed %26amp; faxed, and had not gotten a response from either of those attempts either...........
I gather that since the house is staffed purely on a volunteer basis, one just needs to be persistent (and a little creative, lol) if they want to see the house. I will be back to give a review, once I have toured it.
Thanks for your help!
p.s. BTW, my user name ';fllw_fan'; is based on Frank LLoyd Wright, and it is my goal in life to tour/see as many of the existing FLLW houses as possible....and the Allen house is a real masterpiece......I am really looking forward to seeing it!
