Plaza or Downtown Hotel

My fianc茅e and I will be spending the night in Kansas City before we fly out the next morning to go on our honeymoon. We are very familiar with Kansas City (i use to live there) and want to stay on the plaza or downtown so we can get some dinner and/or a drink or two that night to celebrate.

Any suggestions on what would be a good, luxuary hotel to stay at? Since it%26#39;s only one night and we are basically starting our honeymoon, we%26#39;re ok with splurging on the room.

Also, any suggestions on fine dining for the evening?

For the first night of my honeymoon, I would pick the Raphael Hotel. Both for the rooms and for the intimate dining.

Thanks, both are great ideas....I had thought of the Rafeal for the plaza, but had never been there before. And the casino is a great idea! Will talk it over with the fianc茅e and make a decision.

Congratulations on your wedding!

Thanks lighthouselovertoo!!! I%26#39;m very excited to have the wedding in Kansas, where I%26#39;m from...I now live in Boston, where all of my fianc茅e鈥檚 family lives. I%26#39;m very excited for all these Bostonian%26#39;s to experience all Kansas has to offer!

How about The Elms resort in Excelsior Springs? I went there many years ago and really enjoyed our stay. It has ben renovated since I%26#39;ve been but is supposed to be a very nice resort %26amp; spa.

The Elms resort looks wonderful...has anyone been there recently?

Do you know how far this is from the KC airport?

I think The Elms would be too far to just get up and go for a morning flight.

I vote for Fairmont on the Plaza or Mariott at the airport for ease. I stayed there the night before my honeymoon- they treated us well, had a nice breakfast buffet, and gave us an upgrade on a room for the occasion. COngrats!
